WeatherTalk enables a real-time voice weather report for aviators and mariners.

WeatherTalk

The WeatherTalk module for WeatherHawk automatic weather stations enables a voice weather report of current conditions using cellular phones, Marine and Aviation band radios, walkie-talkies, HAM radio or any compatible UHF/VHF transceiver.

WeatherTalk consists of a weatherproof enclosure containing a power supply, radio transceiver, and voice synthesizer module. The system listens for a keyed squelch break on the monitored frequency, and when detected it issues a voice weather report. An example of such a report would be:

"This is WeatherHawk Central in Logan, Utah where the wind speed is 27 miles per hour, wind direction is 247 degrees, air temperature 27 degrees Celsius, relative humidity 38 percent and barometric pressure one thousand 17 point five millibars."

The applications for this system are:

* Agriculture - real-time frost monitoring/alarm in orchards/vineyards

* Private aviation - take-off and landing conditions at unattended airfields

* Boating - harbor entrance and marina conditions for sailors and fishermen

* Ariel spraying - portable weather stations temporarily sited at fields by ground support personnel

A complete WeatherHawk/WeatherTalk system consists of:

1. A WeatherHawk automatic weather station - both the wireless and RS-232 stations are compatible. If only the WeatherTalk feature is used, then the RS-232 directly connected WeatherHawk is adequate. If your WeatherHawk is also used for posting weather data on the internet, or a real-time display, then the WeatherHawk wireless system (Model 916/922 or 240) is necessary.

2. A WeatherTalk module.

3. A radio licensed for the application of interest, or a cellular phone (CDMA/GSM networks supported). User supplied radios are interfaced for at no additional charge; or purchase a radio module or cellular phone from WeatherHawk.
